Brothers Sentenced in Software Piracy Operation

Two men were sentenced for their participation in a software pirating operation by a judge in Alexandria, Va. Two brothers Maurice A. Robberson and Thomas K. Robberson were sentenced to three years in prison and 30 months in prison respectively.

In addition to prison terms both men will pay hefty fines as well. Maurice A. Robberson will pay $855,917 in restitution with his brother Thomas K. Robberson paying $151,488. According to the DOJ Thomas Robberson grossed over $15,000 selling pirated software and Maurice Robberson grossed more than $855,000 selling pirated applications.

The pair sold the software online via a variety of websites. Two other people were sentenced in connection with the operation, Danny Ferrer was sentenced to 72 months in prison and Alton Lee Grooms was sentenced to one year and a day in prison.
