Sprint announced that it is offering the first EV-DO rev A compatible handset via a software update for the HTC Mogul. The Mogul was the first Windows Mobile device on the Sprint network and the new software update unlocks faster data speeds.
In Sprint service areas where EV-DO Rev A service is available Mogul users will be able to get data download speeds of 600 Kbps to 1.4 Mbps and upload speeds will be 350– 500 Kbps. Previously the fastest speeds the handset was capable of was 400 to 700 Kbps download and 50-70 Kbps upload.
The software update also adds to the handsets GPS functionality allowing for the use of Sprint Navigation and turn-by-turn directions. “The Mogul by HTC now delivers the full power of the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network from the convenience of a handset, giving our customers a speed and capacity advantage unavailable anywhere else in the marketplace," said Danny Bowman, vice president of customer equipment for Sprint. "Besides accessing core capabilities like calendar management, contact lists, personal and corporate email, and viewing documents, customers can use the benefits of SprintSpeed to stay connected, informed and entertained at anytime."
