A new survey has found that there are gaps in broadband coverage in the US. Every one living in rural areas say this along with me—duh! Did we seriously need a survey to know that broadband coverage in many locations in the US just plain sucks?

According to the survey 89% of respondents think lack of broadband hurts a person’s educational productivity and employment potential. 81% say America should use the current universal service fund to expand rural broadband.

79% of respondents say where you live shouldn’t dictate broadband availability and 77% think that economic status shouldn’t dictate broadband availability. Hopefully, we can get better broadband access to rural areas and more service providers. In my area cable internet of decent speed runs $70 a month and DSL isn’t much better at $40 a month. Friends in NYC get faster speeds for significantly less money. Rural America deserves quality Internet at reasonable prices too.
