The FCC released some details about the recent spectrum auction. There are no big surprises as the big carriers AT&T and Verizon did not leave anything on the table and paid for about 80% of the $20 billion the auction retrieved.
The much highlighted Google big did not result in any licenses. Still the WSJ says that Google might be among the biggest winners because of the open-access provision that will allow customers to use whatever phones or software they wish on a portion of the spectrum.
The winners in the FCC spectrum auction are prohibited by the FCC from discussing their plans for the spectrum until early April.
More details on the WSJ.
