Intel Announces New Xeon L5400 Series Processors

Intel announced new server processors today called the Quad-Core Intel Xeon L5400 series. The new parts use Intel’s 45nm manufacturing process and run at 50 watts total power or 12.5 watts per core. The processors will go up to frequencies of 2.5GHz.
The new L5400 series processors are 24% faster and have a 50% larger cache as previous generations according to Intel. The two new processors in the series are the L5420 and the L5410. The L5420 runs at 2.50GHz and the L5410 runs at 2.33GHz.
Both processors have a 1333MHz FSB speed. Intel also says it will be shipping a new low voltage dual-core processor running at 3GHz with a 6MB cache and a 1333MHz FSB. The L5420 processor will retail for $380 in lots of 1000 and the L5410 will retail for $320 in lots of 1000.
