Toshiba introduces a new robot named ApriPoko. The ApriPoko follows Toshiba's first personal robot introduced in 2003 dubbed ApriAlpha. In 2005 Toshiba added the ApriAttenda to their robot line-up.
The new ApriPoko is definitely way cuter than its predecessors. The main function of ApriPoko is to learn your iR remote control actions. You then are supposed to just tell ApriPoko what you want to do. E.g. you say switch on the TV and ApriPoko will do it for you.
At this stage ApriPoko is just a prototype and can only learn and perform simple commands like switch TV on/off or switch channels. The robot is not able to schedule a recording on a DVR yet, but that is the goal of Toshiba.
