One of the last frontiers for Internet access is on commercial flights in the U.S. Aircell announced today that it has completed its nationwide network to offer in flight Internet access to passengers on commercial flights using its Aircell system.

The new Aircell wireless network enables full corporate and personal email, VPN access, web surfing and more. Aircell's in-flight Internet service is called Gogo and Aircell says that both American Airlines and Virgin America have signed agreements with Aircell to deploy the technology.

"We are open for business and ready to help our airline partners deliver a service that three quarters of a billion passengers can use while flying over the U.S. each year," said Jack Blumenstein, CEO of Aircell. "Air travel over the U.S. is entering another golden age. The experience of air travel will continue to evolve with new broadband services and capabilities," said Blumenstein.
