AVerMedia was showing off a new hybrid TV tuner at CES 2008 back in January that connects to a PC via USB. The USB stick is called the AVerTV Hybrid Volar MAX and can receive HDTV, Analog TV, and FM radio on Windows XP or Vista.
Included software allows users to record unencrypted Clear QAM digital cable TV. The device can also save recorded programs in 320x240 format for playback on an iPod, the device is also designed for HD with 720p/1080i resolution.
The tuner is available now for $79.99. This tuner was honored as a CES 2008 Innovations Design and Engineering Award Winner. It also features advanced real-time H.264 recording compression to reduce CPU utilization.
