Siemens home and Office Communications Devices expanded its offerings for WiMAX subscriber devices with the introduction of an Express Card adapter. The device is called the Gigaset SE68 WiMAX Express Card.
Siemens says the card is based on the IEEE 802.16-2005 standard and complies with Wave 2 specifications. The SE68 allows for broadband speeds up to 20 Mbps. The card is scheduled to be available in Summer 2008 and will support 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz frequencies. The SE68 will also be used in a USB 2.0 port with an adapter.
"The Gigaset SE68 WiMAX Express Card is a perfect fit for our existing WiMAX portfolio, which comprises a data modem, a VoIP modem and two gateways with an extensive range of data and voice functionalities. With this extended portfolio we can better address our customers' needs for flexibility and freedom of choice," said Dr. Marc Achhammer, Senior Vice President and Head of WiMAX at Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices.
