Everything is going color this week from mice to external hard drives. LapWorks announced today that its Futura Laptop desk is now available in four solid colors and four prints. LapWorks also says that it intends to poll its customers and release one or two new color options each month throughout 2008.
In addition to choosing the color of the desk customers can also choose final touches like matte or semi-gloss finish and black or translucent no-slip pads. LapWorks says that turnaround time on orders is five business days.
The desks are colored using a special ink jet printing process. "We wanted people to have some fun without having to shell out big bucks," said Jose Calero, LapWorks' president. "So we searched for a top quality graphic process that wouldn't price us out of the ballpark." Calero continued, "We chose a new, highly-specialized UV ink-jet printer that applies a heavy coat of industrial-grade ink to both sides of the Futura that hardens when exposed to UV light. We believe LapWorks is the first to print a three-dimensional product using this process. The printer can reproduce any color or pattern on the Futura, giving us an opportunity to provide a wide variety of choices."
