Besides known computer makers like HP, Acer, or Everex more and more new comers are trying to enter the Asus Eee PC defined market. It is an obvious opportunity for Asian OEMs to get into this market.
They are getting tired of iPod cloning and they know how to make ultra cheap hardware. The OS is free, so there are just no barriers to flood the market with cheap Linux notebooks.

For some reason the new comers choose weird names for their low-cost Linux notebooks like JiSUS or Fukato.
Dutch shop Van Der Led offers the Jisus Linux notebook with a 8.9 inch display and the 64bit Loongson CPU that was developed by the China Academy of Sciences. More about the Loongson (Dragon CPU) can be found on Wikipedia.
Other features of the Jisus notebook include 512MB RAM, 4GB SSD, 4.5 hour battery life and Wifi.
The resolution of the 8.9 inch screen is only 800x480px, which is lower than the resolution the upcoming Asus Eee PC 900 will have.
The Jisus notebook would run Ubuntu Linux and sell for 299.99 Euro (~$474) starting May 25th. More details on the Van Der Led Shop.

The Fukato Asus Eee PC clone is planned by a German company with the same name. The Fukato Linux notebook features a 8 inch display with 800x480px, AMD Geode LX 800 CPU, 20GB HDD, Wifi and 3.5 hour battery life. The price of the Fukato is set at 279 Euro (~$440) and it will ship in May. More details on Heise (German).

There will be many more new ultra low cost notebooks this year, but hopefully they will have better names. Additionally Intel's new Atom CPUs promises just another wave of MIDs in 2008.
