Japan Communications (J-Com) plans to introduce a VOIP cell phone in Japan this Summer.
The phones would be offered with a fixed monthly rate and VOIP calls and data traffic would be unlimited.
We reported last week about Fring that brings VOIP calling to the Apple iPhone. It will be interesting to see if we end up just needing data plans on our cell phones soon.
J-Com tries to tackle the dominating carriers DoCoMo, KDDI Corp and Softbank Corp with the new low-cost mobile phone offering.
