I guess when Verizon Wireless says it has the nation’s largest and most reliable voice and data network they take it seriously. Verizon released some images today of one of its solar powered cellular stations.
The particular station in the image is located in the remote California desert and isn’t even accessible by road. To maintain the station Verizon employees are flown to it via helicopter.
Verizon says the cell site is powered completely by solar power and has a solar charged battery for power on cloudy days. It just doesn’t seem right that Verizon is offering coverage in the frickin’ desert and AT&T can’t get a decent signal to me in my neighborhood two miles outside the largest city in the area.
