New more specific rumors about the Apple 3G iPhone have surfaced thanks to Engadget.

They got it from a trusted source that the 3G iPhone is already in field testing. More interesting are the couple of specific details on what to expect from the new 3G iPhone handset. Apple would tweak the design of the new iPhone a little bit by replacing the back with black material and getting rid of the metal parts. Besides 3G the new iPhone would have a GPS chip, which would make it an awesome navigation device.
Unlike previous rumors 3G iPhone would be slightly thicker.
