Blockbuster announced its latest plan to grow its gaming business by offering gamer hardware, accessories and games titles for retail purchase in its corporate owned stores. Blockbuster says it is also adding more titles for rental as well.
The stores will carry accessories for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and Nintendo DS. "We're committed to offering a full assortment of everything gamers want in our stores -- hardware, accessories and retail and rental games across all platforms -- including Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS," said Rod Murray, vice-president, games merchandising, Blockbuster Inc.
Blockbuster says that it will also be implementing a variety of special consumer game offers including a special PS3 movie and game bundle. For $499.99 shoppers can get a Blockbuster exclusive bundle that includes the 40Gb PS3, PS3 Blu-ray remote, Spiderman 3 Blu-ray movie and the Transformers PS3 game. The bundle will also include a card that allows buyers to get one free Blu-ray or PS3 game rental each week for 12-weeks.
