Scientists have started to examine a colossal squid that has been preserved since it was caught in the Ross Sea off Antarctica's northern coast last year. What they found amongst other things is the world's largest eye we know so far exists on this planet.
The eye of the Colossal squid measures about 11 inches and the lens itself is as big as an orange.
The squid defrosted at New Zealand's national museum is the largest captured so far. There are sure bigger ones out their in the deep sea.
National Geographics has coverage and videos of the Colossal Squid examination.
