Singstar for the Sony PS3 will be launching on May 20th in the United States. The music game is already on the market in Europe. The Sony Playstation Blog revealed some details of the PS3 Singstar launch in the U.S. on May 20th.

In addition to the 30 songs on the Singstar PS3 disc, the U.S. SingStore will have approximately 200 downloadable songs priced each at $1.49. With each song you also get a video of the performing artist. Sony plans to publish 25 to 50 new songs to the SingStore every month.

The killer feature of Singstar might be My SingStar Online, where wanna-be stars can publish videos of their performance with Singstar. By using the PlayStation Eye you can view, rate, and even post favorite videos, audio recordings, and snapshots to the global SingStar community.
Over 20,000 videos have already been uploaded to the My Singstar community since the European launch this past December.

On launch day (May 20th) Sony is releasing a free patch for Singstar that adds new features like enhanced harmony duets, separate Battle mode difficulty selections, a lag calibration feature for different TV types, and PSP remote play.
