Raytheon’s Sarcos exoskeleton robot is being called the real Ironman. Ironman is a Marvel superhero that unlike superman gets his powers from an iron exoskeleton suit that allows the wearer to perform superhuman feats.
While the Sarcos can’t fly or shoot missiles out of its hands it can allow the wearer to easily do tasks that would be difficult without the Sarcos suit. The suit allowed a tester to lift 200 pounds several hundred times without tiring.
At the same time the Sarcos suit doesn’t take away the wearers agility. Raytheon says that wearers can do things like play soccer and climb stairs easily while wearing the Sarcos Exoskeleton. The Sarcos exoskeleton has been in development since 2000.
