New AMD Server Roadmap for Shanghai, Istanbul, Sao Palo and Magny Cours

AMD updates its server CPU roadmap reaching as far out as 2010.
The goals of AMD for their server CPUs are longevity of the platform, increased performance-per-watt and more advanced virtualization features.
The planned CPUs have codenames of places around the globe. First up is Shanghai. This is AMD's first 45nm server processor and will go into productions in the 2nd half of 2008.
Instanbul brings 6-core processing within current socket F1 (1207) in the 2nd half of 2009.
A six core processor with codename Sao Paolo is planned to feature DDR3 memory in addition to HyperTransport 3.0 in 1st half fo 2010.
The Magny Cours CPU will push for a 12-core architecture also in the 1st half of 2010.
Also in 2010 AMD plans to introduce its 3rd generation AMD Opteron socket G34 platform.
