We reported about the Sony VGF-AP1 in May, when it was announced for Japan. The VGF-AP1L features a 40GB hard-drive. Compare Prices now!
Update 07/07/04: AudioCubes sells 20GB Sony VGF-AP1 for $539.00.
The Sony Vaio Pocket measures 114.7 x 63 x 29.7mm and weighs 200g. The VGF-AP1L is 12mm thicker than the 20GB VGF-AP1. It features a 2.2-inch color LCD display, which allows to display photos during playback similar to the tiny EraTech MP3 player we reviewed. The Sony Pocket uses USB 2.0, like the also announced Sony Network Walkman NW-HD1.
The Grid Sense touchpad is a grid of raised dots which work together like a PC touchpad. It allows for precise song selection and navigation. The battery holds for 20hours.
The Sony Pocket Music Player is scheduled for September and will sell for about $500.
