Parrot conducted a survey called the Parrot Hands-free survey and says that it found 41% of drivers in California and Washington use cell phones while driving. Drivers between 35 and 45 admit to spending 40% of their commute on the phone.

Parrot says that 1 in 4 drivers 34 and under admits to texting while driving. The study shows that 75% of respondents support the ban on using cell phones without a hands free kit that goes into effect in California and Washington on July 1.

"The survey findings reflect how cell phones are a ubiquitous part of our daily lives. But when it comes to safety, the best solution is simply to avoid the vast majority of calls, and drive," said David Wenning, senior vice president, Parrot. "Our view is that it's best to simply pull off the road and stop if you really need to make or take a call."
