We all know that the big selling points of a SSD over a normal HDD are faster boot times, better performance, and shock tolerance. We also know that the reason most of us don’t use SSDs is the price and comparatively low storage capacity.
Super Talent has taken one of its 120GB SSD drives, installed Windows Vista and a Tomb Raider game to demonstrate how tolerant to vibrations the SSD actually is. To do this super Talent strapped the SSD to the top of a paint mixer and turned it on high.
As the SSD rumbles around the OS and the video game ran perfectly for 40 minutes. The drive used in the demo is the MasterDrive MX FTM20GK25H that retails for about $670. Pretty cool to see all the shaking going on and the computer still functions normally.
