Michel Fournier had to postpone his big jump to today. It looks like it is a go and preparations are underway right now.
64 year old French Sky diver Michel Founier will try today to break several world records: Altitude record for a skydive (130,000 feet, 40 km), Altitude record for human balloon flight, Record for longest free-fall and Record for fastest skydive.
During the jump Mr. Fournier will reach speeds of 1,500km/h (~932mph). The speed of sound is actually just 770mph. So Mr. Fournier will actually reach supersonic speeds skydiving towards earth.
Bell&Ross tells us that Mr Fournier will be wearing a Bell & Ross BR 02 INSTRUMENT during the big jump. The BR02 is water resistant up to 1,000m and has been specifically adapted for the jump conditions in order to resist a 7 minute dive with negative temperatures of 130°C. The BR02 used for the Big Jump contains no oil and is equipped with a decompression valve.
Le Grand Saut is taking place over North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Updates of this crazy stunt, can be found on the Michel Fournier's Le Grand Saut site.
