Tokyo's famous Akihabara Electronics shopping district became the scene of a killing spree.
Details are still sketchy, but as many as five people might have died and at least 10 more were wounded. The killer began shouting and stabbing passers-by in the Akihabara area.
He has been identified as a 25 year old member of a Yakuza crime syndicate. The man is supposed to be arrested now, but there is no confirmation.
Akihabara is the mecca for geeks and gadget fans and is the favorite place of Japan's Otaku culture.
