HP introduced a new all in one PC called the HP TouchSmart family. The TouchSmart systems feature HP software designed to be operated with the touch of a finger. HP says that users can watch TV, create playlists, listen to music and check weather and email without using a mouse or keyboard.
The systems require only one power cord to set them up and are built around a 22-inch LCD and use Intel Core 2 Duo processors. The systems include 4 GB of RAM and a media card reader and high capacity hard drives. The TouchSmart with TV tuner will retail for $1499 systems without the TV tuner will retail for $1299.
"The introduction of a touch computer with such a strong focus on digital entertainment opens the door to an entirely new way for consumers to engage with their content," said Stephen Baker, vice president, industry analysis, The NPD Group. "HP TouchSmart PCs will allow people to interact with their photos, videos, music and games in unique ways, plus they do everything that you'd expect from a traditional PC."
