Pioneer announced a pair of new DVD/CD burners today that are both designed to be internal drives. The pair can write DVD-R/+R discs at up to 20x speed. The drives are the Pioneer DVR-116D and the Pioneer DVR-216D.
The new drives feature Optimal Write Speed technology to determine the best speed for the media inserted. Both drives will ship in July 2008. The drives are designed to be quiet and feature an anti dust internal mechanism. The difference between the two drives is that the 216D uses SATA interface and the 116D uses the PATA interface.
"Despite the vital nature of this sometimes irreplaceable content, there may be consumers out there who aren't backing up their digital images, music and personal files because they may believe the process is too time consuming," said Steve Cohn, director of sales for Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "We bring to market two of our most performance-rich computer drives that combine rapid burning and enhanced operation to give users a reliable means to maintaining content currently stored on their hard drives."
