AMD and Havok announced today that they will be teaming up to investigate the implementation of physics for PC gaming using AMDs hardware. Currently over 100 developers and 300 leading game titles take advantage of the Havok physics engine.
AMD says that Havok physics scale well across its range of products like the new Phenom quad-core parts. AMD and Havok also say they will look at bringing Havok physics processing to the ATI Radeon line of graphics cards as well.
"As the complexity and visual fidelity of video games increases, AMD wants to take advantage of opportunities to improve the game experience," said Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, Graphics Products Group, AMD. "By working with the clear market leader in physics software, AMD can optimize our platforms to consistently deliver the best possible visual experience to the gamer."
