If you have several CompactFlash cards lying around from an old DSLR camera and want to put them to work inside your computer as a SSD drive Addonics has a new adapter that will allow just that. The Dual CF – SATA Adapter has dual CF slots to allow for using two CF cards as the same time via a SATA or USB connection.
The dual cards can be configured to RAID 1, RAID 0 or combined into one large storage volume. The adapter is a 2.5-inch direct drive replacement and optional brackets for other mounting options are available to mount the drive in a 3.4-inch bay or in an external 5.25-inch bay. The Dual CF – SATA HDD adapter sells for $79.99 and the adapters each sell for $4.50.
This makes for a way cheaper SSD solution for most users. You can pick up a 32GB CF card right now for $180 online making for a 64GB SSD at under $450. Plus this adapter allows you to run RAID for data protection. Some 2GB CF cards are under $50 right now for an even cheaper option.
