The multi-platinum rock band Coldplay is releasing a new single as part of a downloadable song pack for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The song pack will include “Violet Hill” from the Viva la Vida album set for release on June 17th.

The pack also includes the hit tune “Yellow” and the track “God Put a Smile Upon Your Face”. The track pack will be available on June 19th on the Xbox via the Xbox Live Marketplace and the Playstation Store for PS3.

Some bands like Motley Crue report better sales for their music tracks as downloadable tracks for games sell better than the standard tracks on digital music stores like iTunes. Guitar Hero also recently added new wireless guitars.
