Displaytech announced today that it is now filling production orders for its tiny FLCOS microdisplay for use in Pico Projectors that is destined to be integrated into cell phones and other mobile devices. Orders for the VGA, WVGA, and SVGA FLCOS microdisplays will be integrated into pico projectors and head-mounted displays.
The tiny FLCOS microdisplays measure only 11.5mm high and consume less than 100mW of power. Displaytech says that over 18,000,000 FLCOS microdisplays have shipped for use in consumer electronics products.
"We are very excited that we have begun filling production orders for FLCOS microdisplays, indicating to us the start of an exciting new category of consumer electronic products. Small image projectors will ignite new use models for displays and stimulate yet unthought-of applications for inexpensive, pico-sized projection displays," said Richard Barton, CEO of Displaytech.
