Mtron has unveiled its new SSD controller technology that will allow 260MB/s SSD drives to come to market. Mtron says it will be launching new SSDs in early 2009 utilizing the new controller. Products using this controller will be twice as fast as current generation SSD drives.
The controller technology uses 8-channels to provide a maximum read speed of 260MB/s and a maximum write speed of 240MB/s. According to Mtron these drives will be more than twice as fast as any other SSDs on the market. Mtron also unveiled new SSD drives using current technology for the aviation, military and medical industries.
Steve Jeon, CEO of Mtron, said, "This new controller provides not only improved performance, but also it provides high stability and reliability by minimizing errors and instability that a typical flash memory chip has. Based on the superb technology from our 1st generation controller, Mtron will lead the next generation controller industry with the latest technology."
