Earlier this week NVIDIA beat AMD/ATI to the punch by announced its 9800 GTX+ video cards right before AMD announced its new HD 4850. AMD turned the tables a bit by not only introducing the HD 4850, but making it available to purchase right now. You can get the Diamond HD 4850 video card at Newegg for $199.99.
The HD 4850 has 512MB of GDDR3 memory with a 256-bit memory interface. The card supports DirectX 10.1 and CrossFireX. AMD packs 480 stream processors into the card, significantly more than the 9800 GTX+. Though NVIDIA claims the GTX+ performs better.
The core clock of the card is 625MHz and the memory clock is 1986 MHz. The maximum supported resolution is 2560 x 1600 and the card supports QuadFire. Havok physics on the GPU are supported and the card uses unified video decoder for Blu-ray titles.
