Tesla Motors announces formally an electric Sports Sedan dubbedd Tesla Motors Model S.

Tesla Motors already talked about planning an affordable electric family car in 2007 - back then dubbed WhiteStar.
The big announcement yesterday was made in presence of California Governor Schwarzenegger as Tesla Motors decided to manufacture the Model S in California. The exact location is not decided yet.

The California government is helping to make zero emission cars more attractive to consumers. Last week, the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority (CAEATFA), approved a new program that exempts new Zero Emission Vehicle manufacturers from paying sales and use tax on the purchase of manufacturing equipment and will encourage ZEV manufacturing in California. Tesla will also be eligible for at least $1 million in Employment Training Panel Workforce Development Funds to train employees.

Tesla’s sedan, which is targeted for late 2010 production, will utilize Tesla Motors’ electric powertrain design in a car that is both stylish, high performance, yet highly practical. No other details or photos have been published yet.
