If you were a kid in the early 1980’s you probably recall the film WarGames from 1983. Matthew Broderick plays a hacker named David Lightman who accidentally starts a countdown to World War III when he thinks he is playing a war game on a computer.
The computer he is playing is actually the Defense Departments war computer, which thinks the U.S. is actually under attack and starts a nuclear countdown. As part of the 25th anniversary celebration for the WarGames movie it is making a one-night return to select theaters.
"NCM Fathom is excited to bring this classic back to theatres via our exclusive Digital Broadcast Network," said Dan Diamond, vice president of NCM Fathom. "It's interesting to see where the world of technology was when WarGames was made in 1983 and how far we've advanced since."
