The Hollywood Reporter is citing anonymous sources that Microsoft will lower the Xbox 360 price by $50 to $299 in the next weeks.

The price cut for the Xbox 360 with the 20GB HDD would come before E3 Summit taking place in Los Angeles on July 15th-17th. The Xbox 360 price-cut rumors are not new. We reported about it 2 weeks go.
If a $299 price would help Xbox 360 sales dramatically will have to be seen. If Sony would sell the PS3 for $299 it would have more impact.
