When the original iPhone was introduced the discussion was red hot about the feasibilty of a touchscreen only phone. Now touchscreen phones are everywhere. Everywhere? No, in the enterprise world touchscreen phones are not common yet and possibly the new iPhone 2.0 software and iPhone 3G will not reach all enterprise users.
That is why an iPhone with slideout keyboard could be very powerful for Apple. The Register reports that Apple is indeed already circulating an iPhone with keyboard prototype amongst executives at several carriers.
Until the keyboard iPhone comes (or not) lets focus on what lies ahead: July 11th 8a.m. AT&T starts selling the iPhone 3G.
