TrendFOCUS Says SDDs will Replace Tens of Millions of HDDs in the Future

That didn’t stop TrendFOCUS from putting out its own report that says SSDs aren’t a factor today but in the future they will replace tens of millions of HDDs.
The report does offer a lofty number though saying that SSDs will replace over 50 million HDDs within a few years. The enterprise market will be the first place SSDs are adopted and the mobile market will follow once prices come down and capacities go up.
"Midway through 2008, despite all the hype, there has been little effect on demand for HDDs," stated John Chen, Senior Director and TrendFOCUS' SSD team leader. "But as flash costs fall and SSD designs improve, the battle between HDDs and SSDs for market leadership will last for years."
