Yesterday MSI announced that the MSI Wind has started shipping to those who pre-ordered. Now NewEgg is finally taking orders for the MSI Wind U100 netbook. Amazon has still not updated their shipping target.

NewEgg. offers the MSI Wind U100 with 3-Cell Ion battery for $499.99.

MSI says that a 6-cell version of the MSI Wind will be available in September. At that time a 6-cell battery accessory is supposed to be available as well to upgrade the 3-cell models sold now.

The Windows XP MSI Wind features an 80GB 2.5 SATA hard drive, 1.6Ghz Intel Atom CPU and 10 inch screen.
The Wind’s display features embedded LED power-saving backlight technology, which provides color quality and brightness. Other features of the Wind include a 1.3M webcam, Bluetooth capabilities, 3 USB ports and a 4-in-1 card reader.
