Asus shipped 1.7m Eee PCs in 1H of 2008, misses Goal

Asus announced that it shipped 1.7m Eee PCs in the first half of 2008, missing their set goal by 300,000.
Possible reasons are the Intel Atom shortage, but I also think that consumers are not willing to pay the high prices for the Intel Atom Eee PCs. Additionally the line-up of Asus Eee PCs got very confusing. We just reported about an overview table that gives some insight on all the available Asus Eee netbooks.
Digitimes reports that Asus still aims to ship 5 million Eee PCs in 2008, according to company sources.
