AuthenTec announced that the Fujitsu F906i phone is the first mobile device to take advantage of its AuthenTec fingerprint sensor for Power of touch. The feature allows users of the cell phone to use a fingerprint for security, convenience, personalization and navigation.
The Authentec AES1710 fingerprint sensor is the first used in a mobile phone to offer the firms TrueNav technology. The sensor reads below the skin to the live layer where the company says the true finger print lies.
"We are pleased to collaborate with longtime Fujitsu supplier AuthenTec on this new feature-rich smart phone that can be used virtually anywhere in the world and is enhanced by the addition of an AuthenTec fingerprint sensor," said Katsumi Takada, deputy general manager for the Mobile Phone Group of Fujitsu Limited. "AuthenTec not only brings convenient fingerprint security to our new FOMA F906i but also helps enable new user features including fluid, touchpad-like navigation and personalization of the device."
