When it comes to car lovers the car is only half the equation. Sure you need a cool car to enjoy the drive, but you also need a great road. A cool car in LA gridlock just isn’t exciting as a cool car and a curvy, open road with nice scenery.
AutoWeek has announced its list of the top 50 driving roads in the country. As you might expect the top road is in California, but it’s not the Pacific Coast Highway, its Route 74 at San Juan Capistrano from Hemet to Idyllwild. Number two is in Florida, and number three is in the Texas Hill country. Number four is in Michigan and the number 5 road is in New York.
I have personally driven many of the scenic routes in the Texas hill country and there are some fantastic roads there. It’s pretty impressive and other than the heat the landscape reminds me of photos of the California Napa valley.
