Xerox has launched its latest scanner aimed at workgroup use in an office. The scanner is called the DocuMate 162 and it is capable of scanning up to 50 pages per minute in duplex mode and has a 50-page automatic document feeder.

The scanner has nine one-touch scan-to destinations and includes $400 in bundled software. The scanning resolution is 600 dpi with a color bit depth of 48-bit. Xerox says that the scanner can scan up to 2500 pages per day. Dimensions are 12" x 5.6" x 10.5" and the scanner weighs 6.5 pounds.

"Having the DocuMate 162 scanner on your desk is like having a personal assistant," said John Capurso, vice president of marketing for the Xerox DocuMate scanners. "Its next generation scanner technology solves real-world problems such as capturing a multi-page contract in searchable PDF so that the document can be searched by content; scanning receipts that are hardly legible; or scanning colored multi-part shipping forms that are smudged and difficult to read and then electronically filing them with transit records.
