ZeeVee has started shipping its ZvBox localcasting device. The system allows Internet TV watchers to send content from their computers to the big screen HDTV in the living room for watching. The ZvBox connects to the monitor output on a computer and then localcasts the Zv channel it creates across the homes existing coaxial cable network.
All content output from the computer is in HD quality with the ZvBox and no additional fees are required when sending content from the PC to the TV. All HDTVs in the home on the coaxial network can get the Zv channel. The device can also extend any computer application to your big screen. The ZvBox will retail for $499 at Amazon, Best Buy, Jr.com, NewEgg.com, TigerDirect.com, and more.
"With the ability to watch virtually any Internet or local media with just one device localcasting to all the HDTVs in the home, ZvBox is an innovative leap forward for the industry," said Colin Dixon, senior analyst with The Diffusion Group. "While competing solutions continue to add to the clutter in the living room and are limited by digital media compatibility issues, ZvBox represents one of the most comprehensive and simplest ways to watch Internet shows and movies on the HDTVs in the home today."
