Nikon announces the cool looking COOLPIX S60 with an entirely new touch screen interface.
With a newly developed 3.5-inch LCD monitor featuring a 16:9 widescreen display, the only physical button to press is the shutter. Even the 5x zoom is controlled via icons on the touch screen.
Touch controls also bring a new dimension of fun to viewing images, from fingertip scrolling through images, quick switching between various thumbnail views, instant image selection, and playback zoom. Auto image rotation ensures optimal display regardless of the picture’s orientation. The supplied stylus can be used for a variety of functions including: The Draw Function, which allows handwritten memos on the touch screen to be stored as JPEG files, and the Paint Function, which enables memos and frames to be added to images. And the new HD Pictmotion function combines with HDMI connectivity to allow high-quality playback and slide shows on an HDTV.
Other features of the 10MP Nikon S60 include 5x Zoom-NIKKOR lens, 4x digital zoom, Face-priority, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, D-Lighting, ISO 3200 max. sensitivity, VR image stabilization, Macro shooting from as close as 9 cm, and Three movie modes with sound, plus time-lapse movie mode.
Measurements of the S60 are 97.5 x 60 x 22 mm and the weight is 145g.
The Nikon S60 will be available in a choice of Purplish Black, Pearl White, Bordeaux Red, Red, Pale Pink, or Rich Gold.
No pricing and shipping information is provided by Nikon at this point.
