Reports of 3G reception issues in the United States with the iPhone 3G are making its rounds. Wired tries to dig deeper to see if there is an issue and whether it is with AT&T or with the Apple iPhone 3G phone.
The opinions of experts are pointing towards network issues, but some also consider the 3G chipset choice of Apple in the iPhone 3G as possibly the reason.
Most likely there is actually nothing wrong with the iPhone 3G, it is just the current spotty 3G availability. 3G is only available in major metropolitan areas. Inside these "hotspots" you also have lots of holes. 3G after all these years is still a mess if you ask me.
Wired also started to plot a map of iPhone 3G test results.
