Micron's e-MMC flash memory is used in all sorts of devices -- including PDAs, digital cameras, cell phones, and automotive infotainment systems. Today Micron announced its latest e-MMC module with a 32GB storage capacity.
Micron says the new storage device uses the company's industry-leading 34 nm MLC NAND process technology. The new module is qualified for an extended temperature range of -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C, making it ideal for use in automotive and industrial applications.
According to Micron the storage capacity is enough to hold 16,000 high-resolution digital photos, 8,000 songs, or up to 20 hours of high-definition video. Micron says customer samples are expected to ship by the end of August 2008 and mass production is expected to start in the second half 2008.
