I don't think anyone will deny that Apple has a runaway hit on its hands with the App Store. With over 60 million applications downloaded in the first month of the service, the App Store could prove to be as popular as Apple's music store in the future. A company called Scanbuy has launched an application for the iPhone called ScanLife that allows the iPhone to read 2-D barcodes.
The application installs directly to the iPhone, uses the iPhone camera to take pictures of 2-D barcodes, and provides users with an instant connection to information about the product associated with the barcode. The service allows consumers to search for product information without having to type in a URL or keyword. The service also allows individuals to create personal EZcodes linking to blogs or networking sites by registering an account.
The ScanLife application can launch any URL address and when Wi-Fi access is available, the application can also send the user to a specific iTunes page to preview and purchase a specific song or watch a video on YouTube. The iPhone application is available free and can be downloaded at the App Store now.
