Now I cannot sleep anymore. My trusty old first generation iPod nano could start a fire if it is one of the rare ones with battery issues sold between September 2005 and December 2006.
As reported an iPod nano exploded and caused fires in Japan. Apple responded in saying that there have been very rare reports that they could tie to a specific battery supplier for some of the first iPod nanos.
Apple will replace any first generation iPod nanos with symptoms of an overheating or smoking battery.
