Today Sony announced a new accessory for the PS3 called the Wireless Keypad. The wireless keypad mounts over the top of the Sony PS3 controller and adds a full QWERTY keyboard that is operated with the thumbs. The keypad is paired to the PS3 by connecting it with the included USB cable.
Once the keypad is paired it connects to the PS3 via wireless Bluetooth technology, just as the PS3 controllers have since the PS3 hit the market. The keypad supports chat and has quick access buttons that can take gamers to the friends list and Message Box during gameplay.
The most interesting feature of the wireless keypad is a Touch Pad button that allows the entire surface of the keypad to be used in as a mouse for controlling the pointer on screen. Sony says that the wireless keypad will be available in America in November and in other countries by the end of the year.
