More Other Stuff News
Barack Obama announced today via an SMS text message to supporters that Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Biden would be Obama’s pick for vice president. Reason enough for Sprint to issue a press-release praising their SMS service.
Traffic on Sprint's short code for the Obama campaign rose 255% following the announcement, which was texted shortly after 3:00 a.m. EST.
At 3am not that many people actually are texting, just a couple of lost hearts out there.
So it is quite easy to create a spike sending out a broadcast SMS. Anyway, nice try to create some PR on a Saturday.
Via this Sprint announcement.
